Soo...when I was at home walking around in them OR even walking outside with them on...everything felt fine UNTIL I entered the Saint Mary's Library (dun dun dun...). I realized that the bottom of my shoe caused me to slip when I walked on tiles. So, I walked down the stairs very, very, very slowly (like I was some sort of idiot). After making through the second flight of stairs, I started thinking 'Hmmm...maybe I won't slip.' Well, well, well...I ginxed (sp?) myself as usual. With one set of stairs to go, I took one tiny step and fell all the way to the bottom of the floor!!! Thankfully, no one was near the stairs to watch my clumsiness in action. You all would have had a great laugh!!! =) It was hilarious! But the fall definitely hurt...it only stung for like 2 minutes though.

Now, on to Holy Cross----In order for me to commute from St. Mary's to Holy Cross, I have to bike through this short trail near the railroad tracks. The trail is ridiculously tiny and I'm always scared that I might either fall on to the tracks or fall over to the left side into the big ditch. Anyway, when I was biking....(I was completely out of it..in my own little world) I heard something rustling through the trees. By the time I got out of there, I turned around and saw a bush move a little. I'm hoping it was a squirrel....I really hope it was a squirrel.

For lunch, I went home (because I had no money..boo hoo!) and had some rice and curry. When I arrived at the Notre Dame parking lot, it was 12:55. "Great, I have five minutes to make it to the law library in the scorching sun!" I speed walked to Hesburgh, unlocked my bike, and started to bike over to the Law Library pretty fast. I caught up to this one man who was walking and for some reason it looked like he was running away from me! That's what I thought. But no....that's not the reason. He was smart enough to run when the SPRINKLERS were turning to the sidewalk. I, unfortunately, was so caught up on getting to work on time that I zoned everything out...including the sprinklers. Yupp...I got sprayed with water...head to toe. My hair frizzed instantly and my jeans were literally sticking on to me. It was quite refreshing because of the crazy heat that day, but I had to work in wet jeans which was very uncomfortable. Usually, when interesting things like this happen to me, I label it as a bad day. Not yesterday....it was funny....I definitely entertain myself =)

Long Time No Blog

Guess what everybody?!?! Well, not completely done...but pretty close. I just need to jot down some addresses. Anyway, I have a headache from working on my resume....hence, the title =) In high school, I had to make a basic resume. So I brought in a copy of that one, updated it a little, and typed it on to my webpage.

The template that I've chosen came with many tables/cells. One table appeared to have the perfect layout for a resume. So, I typed in all my info into that table and I was done within 20 minutes....or so I thought! After publishing it, I realized that none of my info was aligned. I asked Elaine for help, and she told me that I would have to insert more tables and 'play around with it.' After 30 minutes of trying to figure out how to fix the format, I stopped....erased EVERYTHING....including all the tables and cells...and started all over.

Now, I am done! It's always nice to see family.

Anywho, on Friday (at work) we went to a career center. We took a quiz to see what kind of career path fit each one of us. Well, I've always assumed that I would get a degree based on math/science BUT lately I've been thinking about elementary education. I like little kids and when it comes to teaching, I have the most patience with them. Okay, back to work. After tallying up my results, I found my #1 match. The only problem was that instead of one #1 match, I had two!! They were....Math and Science oriented AND Helper/Teacher. Who would have thought?! It's surprisingly working today, so I'm going to type super fast before it automatically shuts off or does something weird.

Yesterday was a string of absolutely negative moments. Here's why....I woke up a little later than usual BUT I was ever so ecstatic when I left the house a good ten minutes earlier than when I normally leave. Anyway, I usually arrive to Notre Dame through Douglas BUT since it's closed, I go through Juniper. Well well well...as I was about to turn left on to Juniper I realized that there was a giant sign preventing me to turn on to the street. It read, "ROAD CLOSED". That completely through me off. Lucky for me, I had plenty of time to find another way to enter Notre Dame, park, walk to Hesburgh, unlock my bike, and ride over to St. Mary's.

I arrived at Notre Dame and walked/jogged over to the bike racks. As I arrived in front of Hesburgh...I quickly glanced over and it seemed to me that my bike was missing. 'I made a mistake. It's early in the morning and my mind's playing games with me. The bike has got to be there' --that's what I thought. Unfortunately, I was not one bit mistaken. I couldn't believe my eyes! The bike was seriously gone. Just gone.

I stood in front of Hesburgh in complete shock and kept walking back and forth like a madwoman. A few minutes later, I decided to accept the disappearance of the bike and drive over to St. Mary's. If it was my bike, I wouldn't feel as bad BUT because Mr. King lent me his bike just out of pure generosity, I felt responsible. Even though I didn't steal it, I felt 100% guilty. I felt like it was my fault.....

My morning didn't get any better as my breakfast spilled all over my car. Plus, on top of all that, I promised my foreign exchange friends that I would ask my supervisor if I could take 15 minutes in the morning to say a final goodbye to them all at Regina Hall (in St. Mary's). Then, I wouldn't take the 15 minute break from 10-10:15. However, since I arrived at work a good 10 minutes late due to a mild heartattack from a bike theft, I thought that it probably wasn't a good idea for me to ask my supervisor for 15 minutes. It was so devastating because I had to park in the lot in front of Regina Hall. So I had to walk by it, in order for me to get to the library. I was so close to them...but I had no time to say my final words to them. I guess it's a good thing because if I were to stop by and say goodbye, I know that I would arrive at work with tears. Afterall, everything happens for a reason, right?

These misfortunes happend BEFORE work, and I thought that my entire day was just going to go downhill from there. Fortunately, my work part of the day was completely opposite. In high school, I watched a movie about human cloning with Arnold Shwarzenaeger (sp?). Quite interesting actually. I remember watching the video and thinking, "This is ridiculous! God created us, not science." So, for my paper I'm going to first talk about the pros and cons of cloning and then state my opinion of the controversial issue.

Commuting with Bikes

This was my day...

I woke up at "6:40 ish" and left my house at 7:25. I got to Notre Dame at 7:40, parked my car in the visitor's parking lot, and speed walked to the bike racks at Hesburgh. I unlocked the lock that was wrapped securely around the tires of the bike and peddled away to St. Mary's. As I vigorously (no, not really) peddled through the campus, I looked up at the sky. It was dark and gloomy. I prayed that it wouldn't rain because I really didn't want to arrive at work bathed from the rain. God heard me, for a single drop of rain did not come down. The bike ride to St. Mary's took about twenty minutes and it was relaxing until I had peddle up a slight hill. It wasn't intimidating at all but for some reason, I couldn't get up the hill! So, I stopped and walked up the hill with my bike. Boy, am I out of shape or what? Besides being a little clammy and sore in my thighs, the bike ride wasn't all that bad. Though I've realized that I must leave home a little earlier because I arrived at work five minutes late.

At St. Mary's, I scanned pictures into files. At Holy Cross, I checked if the books in the library had a shelf card AND if they were in the system--ALEPH. The work that I have to do isn't hard, there's just a lot of pictures or books that I have to go through. Oh! Guess what? When I was biking to Notre Dame (from Holy Cross), this creepy guy slowed down, rolled down his windows, and started talking to me in a flirtatious voice! "Hey baby. How you doin'? ..."I was completely creeped out, especially when he would drive the same speed as my bike pace! I acted like I didn't hear the sleazeball and I kept on peddling...

Once I reached Notre Dame, Cheri treated me with lunch (yay!). We talked about college---her experiences and my excitement/worries. It was fun. Thank you Cheri.

Let's see. After lunch, I went to the Law Library and downloaded cases into a file. I finished a volume today--I know, I surprised myself too. I also met Beth, my supervisor, for the first time. It was great to finally meet her because she's been a mystery to me for the past few days. Last week, I was painting a picture in my head of how I thought she looked like and what her personality was like--all from the look of her office. It was nice to put an actual face to the name instead of having a vision of what Beth might look like.

First Week

On Monday, I had a hard time getting up in the morning, but it's actually getting easier. Working with librarians have been quite interesting. I never knew librarians did so much work. Whenever I entered any library, I assumed that the only type of work that a librarian did was shelf and check out books. I was in for a complete shock when I went to Preservations and we had to sew pamphlets together! During my first few days of work, I have met some great people; students and faculty. I met my friend's mentor earlier this week, and she is hilarious! She treated us with lunch at the South Dining Hall. After fifteen minutes of meeting each other, we had conversations that kept me amused. I can't wait to meet my mentor now!

The one thing that I wish would change is my schedule on Mondays and Wednesdays. On these days, I'm scheduled to work at St. Mary's, Holy Cross, and Notre Dame! On Wednesday, I only had ten minutes to "swallow" my lunch because it took me about 25 minutes to walk over to St. Mary's from Holy Cross (my car was parked there). Then, I couldn't find a single parking spot. Though, after circling around the campus, I found a man about to exit the visitor's parking lot. I heard we were getting parking passes soon. Therefore, the parking problem is taken care of. Also, Mr. King kindly lent me one of his bikes to get around the campuses on Mondays and Wednesdays. PROBLEMS SOLVED!
