I couldn't believe my eyes!

I really wanted to create a new post yesterday BUT my computer was extremely slow...as usual. It's surprisingly working today, so I'm going to type super fast before it automatically shuts off or does something weird.

Yesterday was a string of absolutely negative moments. Here's why....I woke up a little later than usual BUT I was ever so ecstatic when I left the house a good ten minutes earlier than when I normally leave. Anyway, I usually arrive to Notre Dame through Douglas BUT since it's closed, I go through Juniper. Well well well...as I was about to turn left on to Juniper I realized that there was a giant sign preventing me to turn on to the street. It read, "ROAD CLOSED". That completely through me off. Lucky for me, I had plenty of time to find another way to enter Notre Dame, park, walk to Hesburgh, unlock my bike, and ride over to St. Mary's.

I arrived at Notre Dame and walked/jogged over to the bike racks. As I arrived in front of Hesburgh...I quickly glanced over and it seemed to me that my bike was missing. 'I made a mistake. It's early in the morning and my mind's playing games with me. The bike has got to be there' --that's what I thought. Unfortunately, I was not one bit mistaken. I couldn't believe my eyes! The bike was seriously gone. Just gone.

I stood in front of Hesburgh in complete shock and kept walking back and forth like a madwoman. A few minutes later, I decided to accept the disappearance of the bike and drive over to St. Mary's. If it was my bike, I wouldn't feel as bad BUT because Mr. King lent me his bike just out of pure generosity, I felt responsible. Even though I didn't steal it, I felt 100% guilty. I felt like it was my fault.....

My morning didn't get any better as my breakfast spilled all over my car. Plus, on top of all that, I promised my foreign exchange friends that I would ask my supervisor if I could take 15 minutes in the morning to say a final goodbye to them all at Regina Hall (in St. Mary's). Then, I wouldn't take the 15 minute break from 10-10:15. However, since I arrived at work a good 10 minutes late due to a mild heartattack from a bike theft, I thought that it probably wasn't a good idea for me to ask my supervisor for 15 minutes. It was so devastating because I had to park in the lot in front of Regina Hall. So I had to walk by it, in order for me to get to the library. I was so close to them...but I had no time to say my final words to them. I guess it's a good thing because if I were to stop by and say goodbye, I know that I would arrive at work with tears. Afterall, everything happens for a reason, right?

These misfortunes happend BEFORE work, and I thought that my entire day was just going to go downhill from there. Fortunately, my work part of the day was completely opposite. Felicia took me out of work to bond and we broke a sweat...literally. =)

Wow T.

I didn't realize that had just happened that morning. Good thing we went to burn off steam. I am still SORE. Tou must've done something wrong!!!

That is a bummer about walking past Regina Hall and not being able to pop in and say "Bye."

I laughed when I read that you probably would have been crying by the time you arrived at work if you had said "Goodbye."

I laughed, because when I worked with Mr. King he said that he would give me a really good recommendation if I needed one in the future. He said and I quote: "She is a really hard worker...CRIES A LOT....but still a good worker!" Ha! Ha!

But then again, I explained to him that I am a Delicate Flower. He disbelieves me for some strange reason.

Hey tina,
Sorry to hear about the bike issue, the road being closed, and not being able to say goodbye to your foreign exchange friends.:*(
I'm glad we have a group at lunch now because sitting all by yourself is soo lonely and boring. Anyway hope when you return to work everything gets better.

Oh Man! What a horrible day! Sorry about the bike. I imagine Dr. King has lost other bikes in the past. Try not to worry about it. Sounds like your work is going very well, so focus on the positive. And try to eat less spilly breakfasts! Look into those breakfast bars - impossible to spill in the front seat.
