Commuting with Bikes
This was my day...
I woke up at "6:40 ish" and left my house at 7:25. I got to Notre Dame at 7:40, parked my car in the visitor's parking lot, and speed walked to the bike racks at Hesburgh. I unlocked the lock that was wrapped securely around the tires of the bike and peddled away to St. Mary's. As I vigorously (no, not really) peddled through the campus, I looked up at the sky. It was dark and gloomy. I prayed that it wouldn't rain because I really didn't want to arrive at work bathed from the rain. God heard me, for a single drop of rain did not come down. The bike ride to St. Mary's took about twenty minutes and it was relaxing until I had peddle up a slight hill. It wasn't intimidating at all but for some reason, I couldn't get up the hill! So, I stopped and walked up the hill with my bike. Boy, am I out of shape or what? Besides being a little clammy and sore in my thighs, the bike ride wasn't all that bad. Though I've realized that I must leave home a little earlier because I arrived at work five minutes late.
At St. Mary's, I scanned pictures into files. At Holy Cross, I checked if the books in the library had a shelf card AND if they were in the system--ALEPH. The work that I have to do isn't hard, there's just a lot of pictures or books that I have to go through. Oh! Guess what? When I was biking to Notre Dame (from Holy Cross), this creepy guy slowed down, rolled down his windows, and started talking to me in a flirtatious voice! "Hey baby. How you doin'? ..."I was completely creeped out, especially when he would drive the same speed as my bike pace! I acted like I didn't hear the sleazeball and I kept on peddling...
Once I reached Notre Dame, Cheri treated me with lunch (yay!). We talked about college---her experiences and my excitement/worries. It was fun. Thank you Cheri.
Let's see. After lunch, I went to the Law Library and downloaded cases into a file. I finished a volume today--I know, I surprised myself too. I also met Beth, my supervisor, for the first time. It was great to finally meet her because she's been a mystery to me for the past few days. Last week, I was painting a picture in my head of how I thought she looked like and what her personality was like--all from the look of her office. It was nice to put an actual face to the name instead of having a vision of what Beth might look like.

Hi there,
thanks for the blog link. I love it. Very descriptive and I felt as though I was actually there with you.
Beware of weird men following you in cars while on your bike. Good exercise though.

Hey Tina,
I had a really nice time at lunch with you! I'm finally back from New Orleans, so hopefully it will be a little bit easier for us to spend time together. Liz Dube and I are making plans to take you and Julie (and maybe some other students) to the rec. center next Friday for some ping pong and pool. A nice Friday activity! See you soon.
Cheri
